"Best trip so far!"
This was the first time I went to Mexico and I will surely return. Every thing was wonderful. The hotel was beautiful and really clean, the room was great, clean and the beds were comfortable, the pool was clean and the beach, beautiful. The food was ok. If you are not too picky and difficult about food you will surely find things that will please you. For the price we paid, it was worth it and I would surely return there. Me and my friend also went to swim with the dolphins which was an amazing experience. For me, the strongest point of this hotel was the staff. Everyone is so kind, friendly and ready to help you, not like in Cuba. The barman are funny and the whole team of entertainment guys were the best one!!! A special thank you to William, Manuel, Luis, April, Julio, and Adrian for making my trip a lot more funnier than what I expected. I will always remember my trip :)
"Great place!"
We visited Cozumel during the Christmas holidays (Dec. 26- Jan 1). We were a party of six, two parents, and four young adults. We absolutely LOVED this resort!!!! Part of the resort was under construction, but that didn't bother us. The rooms were nice---very clean. We had two garden rooms and one ocean front. Most of the people staying here were divers, so we had the resort to ourselves during the day. Never had a problem finding chairs on the beach. Two pools, which were very nice. For an all inclusive resort, the food was WONDEFUL!!!! The Mexican restaurant and especially the Italian restaurant were both fabulous!!!! Even the Seaside Grill was delicous. The snorkeling right off the beach was nice. We spent a day at the spa, which was great. Can't say enough nice things about this resort. Just remember, if you are looking for a 5 star resort, this isn't it. But if you want a small resort with a nice beach, good food, and nice atmosphere, this could be the place. Remember to take plenty of cash if you intend to do anything around the island. We rented jeeps one day and went to Coconuts Bar on the other side of the island. This bar only takes cash, but it is one of the best bars in the world! Great margritas, food, and service. Driving around the island in jeeps was a lot of fun too. We went fishing twice. Caught wahoo, triggerfish, and yellowtails. We rented the boat for eight hours for our group of six. I must recommend Chi Chi Charters. Capt Raoul and Jorge were great! We even went to the beach for swimming and snorkeling. Raoul and Jorge cleaned our fish for us and the resort cooked them for dinner. What a wonderful dinner this was! No extra charge (even though we tipped). New Years Eve was unbelievable. I have never seen a resort put on such a nice dinner and shows. There was a DJ and a very good band. Dancing into the night! The only negative thing about the resort is the Seaside Grill was very slow at lunch. Other than this, everything else was wonderful. We will return! Maybe diving next time. For divers, almost everyone we talked with said the diving was great. I am a diver and the reefs in Cozumel are my favorite anywhere (even though I didn't go diving on this trip) in the world.
"Great Vacation Spot"
Great vacation spot. All staff was courteous but a very special mention to two people. Rigo the "muy excelente" seaside night bartender and Luis the evening chef at Seaside restaurant . They took excellent care of us and I miss them already!!
"week in paradise"
Just got back yesterday and we had a blast. The resort is small which is great because you get extremely good service. The staff take.the time to get to know you which makes your stay much more enjoyable. The other nice thing is its really relaxed what ever you ask for you get. We really enjoyed the swimming, plenty of colorful fish right at the resort. The food was also really good. Yes it did get a little boring the last 2 days. But it was still excellent none the less. Couple things I really enjoyed was the Palancar dive shop at the resort was awesome. We went diving for the first time and they were great at making it fun while keeping us safe. One thing to we loved was the spray paint artist. That guy is an amazing artist. We got two beautiful paintings on our wall that are going to be a conversation piece forever. Also order the dirty monkey Best drink ever. I know there's lots of bad reviews but this place is really great. I guess it's just what you make of it. From what we heard from people with children there it's great for families. TONS of activities for the kids all day. We heard parents say the kids were sad when they had to leave the corezone and the kid center. Just an FYI there is no dinner buffet but you get ala cart every night. Also a swim up bar would be great as well.
"Fun in the Sun"
We visited last week and overall, despite a few rough spots, our holiday vacation was a success. Our 11-yr-old enjoyed the active Kid's Club tremendously (open from 9am-9:45pm) and relished his freedom to roam the property without his parents. Refreshing for us too, since we live in a big city. Our 2nd floor room was right on the water near the Italian restaurant. It was clean, spacious and well stocked. My husband dove with Dive Palancar (located on the property) and as a family, we took a snorkeling trip to a few popular stops right from the resort's pier -a stone's throw away. Snorkeling in front of the hotel is so easy and pleasant. Another day, we walked to a water park at San Francisco Beach where they have huge inflatable slides, trampolines and other fun floatables in the ocean with lifeguards in kayaks weaving around to make sure kids are safe ($10 to use/$2 lounge chair for the day.) We visited the Dolphin Park (10 min away) and experienced some of the best snorkeling and tequila from their museum. The hotel is also 30 min from the airport. House wine at the resort was acceptable, and they had every type of alcoholic beverage available. The snack shop pleased our son with made to order hamburgers/fries and the quesadillas with fresh guacamole and salsa was wonderful. A few times during lunch, a big bbq on the beach grilled chicken, beef and pork to perfection that was accompanied with salad and more guacamole. They threw a New Year's dinner party and had buffet stations of freshly cooked food stationed throughout the lobby and pool areas. They pulled out all the stops --pinata's for the kids and festive live music. The spa is really nice, too, Great massages, sauna and steam rooms was so relaxing. They also have a gym with the essentials that was on the second floor across from the spa with a peek-a-boo ocean view. Our last night, we ordered lobster dinners while our son enjoyed dinner with the Kid's Club, which was his idea so we "could have a romantic dinner together!" A few suggestions - update WiFi (currently only limited to the lobby/pool area with a maximum of 20 users at a time), have the bartender and activities team coordinate music at lunch so you're not forced to listen to 2 types of blasting music! and provide and array of healthy snack choices between meals. A juice bar would be a plus.
"Great trip to Cozumel"
We went to Cozumel in March 2013 for spring break with the family. We had a wonderful trip. The resort is on the small size, but it was perfect as the boys could wonder around by themselves. We had an ocean view room - it is definitively worth the upgrade. We were 50 meters from the water. The resort was undergoing renovations, but none of them bothered us. The rooms are pretty basic, but clean and well maintained. They were renovating a lot of the rooms as we were there. There food was very good. The buffet was small, but the food fresh and well presented. We only had the choice of 2 a la carte restaurants, the pizzeria and the Italian, the other one was under renovation. The beach has a lot of corals...so if you are looking for a white sandy beach (like in Cuba) don't go there....but if you love to snorkel, you have found your paradise. We snorkeled every day...bring your own equipment if you have it, as the one they will let you are pretty basic. We went to the public beach (10 minutes walk) and rented a seadoo...it was fun. We also parasailled with the company right on site... Overall, an excellent vacation. Would definitively go back.
"Sabor Day Pass"
This review is based on the day pass I purchased while on a cruise. My family enjoyed their day quite a bit to the point that I am thinking about bypassing the cruise just to stay here. My favorite bonus was the non-motorized water sports included with the package. The first thing my family and I did was steer our own catamaran over the beautiful water of Cozumel. That alone made the price paid very worth it. You could also kayak or snorkel(bring your own gear: they re-use everything and don't sanitize). The open bar was great. I ordered my wife every fruity drink under the sun and it was great. Sure it was bottom shelf but we enjoyed it quite a bit and again that alone made it worth the money we spent. The pool was beautiful. The water aerobics were pretty funny to watch. The food was "ok". The snack bar consisted of 4 items and although the guacamole was extremely good, the rest of it was average. Why do tourists order american cheeseburgers while in other countries? That puzzles me. The dinner buffet was pretty good. This is my first time to Mexico but so I might be wrong to wonder why there was so much pasta on the buffet when you are in Mexico. I was just expecting something different. In the end this resort had an elegant appearance and was extremely relaxing. We would definitely do it again.
"WOW ! Pleasant Surprise !!!!"
At first thought, because of the price we got this trip for, I thought it would be kind of a dump. Wow what a pleasant surprise ! This resort was fantastic, very clean comfortable with staff that are genuinely "nice people" any request (extra drinks) was attended to immediately. All the food was gourmet prepared, the Mexican theme dinner and show was fun and the food was fantastic. Rent a car from the motel and tour the island, it's easy driving and easy to find your way around. The guy at the car rental company is very nice and will help in any way... a good "go to " guy for your island tour !!!
"Family Vacation"
There was 8 of us that came over the Thanksgiving (11/23/2013-11/30/2013) holiday. We had a great time. The staff is amazing. They are friendly and helpful. Alejandro's and the entertainment team was great: Luis, Isabel and William. The bike tour with Luis and Isabel was fun and a great experience. Everyday the entertainment staff provided a variety of fun activities (volleyball in the pool, dart tournament and water aerobics... just to name a couple). Bar staff and wait staff were also exceptional. Bar Staff: Rigo, Jonathan and Franklin, went above and beyond our expectations. They were all so friendly and always had a smile. Drinks were served fast, no matter how busy they were. Wait staff, David, Luis and Rolando and the rest were very attentive and always knew we all would have coffee (and side of Baileys) for our morning breakfast. They were all so friendly and made our dining experience spectacular. Gloria- The lady that made our eggs at every breakfast was amazing and fast, she makes the best omelet. Seaside Grill was also very good, Nachos everyday with fresh guacamole and salsa. Our maid, Maria, did a great job to keep our room clean and mini fridge stocked. She also made animals out of towels and decorated with flowers. We had an ocean front room (Villa 2714), amazing view and great location. The beach and hotel grounds were clean. All of the staff at Sunscape Sabor work so hard and do such a great job. All 8 of us can't say enough how wonderful all of the staff are and what a great vacation this was. We love to snorkel, and went on a snorkel tour with Dive Palancar, located right at the hotel. It was amazing. We went to 3 reefs, Punta Sur, Colombia reef and Palancar. Colombia reef was absolutely amazing and the dive master was great at pointing out the marine life. Highly recommend this snorkel excursion. I would also recommend renting a jeep and taking a tour of the Island, beautiful beaches are located everywhere.
"Excellent Entertainment Team"
The Entertainment Team was excellent. Before the end of the first day the entire team knew my family by name and made us feel like we were truly their special guests. A huge thank you to Alejandro's team: William, Julio, Jordan and Adrian. You made our stay one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had. Once Jordan found out my daughter's birthday was coming, he ensured that we had a special surprise waiting. A tenth birthday to remember! The most memorable experiences were William singing karaoke with me, making a present for my daughter's birthday, and most of all: the entire Entertainment Team showing up to say goodbye as we left the resort.
"Girls time out !"
I'm a Mother of 2 wonderful women ages 25 and 27. After a battle with cancer I wanted to take a special trip with my girls. We choose Cozumel. It met our every expectation; excellent food, beautiful facilities and amazing sunsets. We snorkeled right from the hotel and saw more varieties of fish than I had every seen from other resorts. The waitresses, waiters and bartenders were fun and made the experience so enjoyable. The facilities were excellent and clean and we could step out onto the beach. The all inclusive resort plan is so perfect with no need to take cash with us every place and even our ride to and from the airport was included. We booked through cheapcaribbean.
"Back to paradise"
Return trip to resort, and found the facilities, food, and service were better than ever! The staff was as friendly and helpful as always. Their concern for my comfort and enjoyment of my vacation was as outstanding as usual. To include a special dinner by Head Chef upon learning it was my birthday.
"Long Awaited Trip"
I have wanted to snorkel in Cozumel for many years - it moved to my bucket list about 5 years ago. My arrangements were made through a travel agent-sight unseen- and we couldn't have picked a better place. The facilities were lovely, the service was right on, the beach was super clean (we watched the beach being raked every morning), the food and drinks were excellent, and the room (right on the beach) was perfect. Although the weather was dreary we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in Cozumel! I would return to this resort and I recommend it without hesitation.
"Seashells and Wedding Bells"
My new husband and I chose this resort for our destination wedding and over 100 people joined us. We arrived midweek, a few days before our wedding guests arrived, and the resort was almost empty because the Fall is their low season. Once everyone arrived, they accommodated everyone wonderfully. A few of our wedding guests rooms had issues such as, the A/C and fridge not working but the resort fixed it. They brought on more staff to help out and opened up more restaurants. Julio, the activities coordinator, was great! He is very outgoing, friendly and learned everyones name. Angel, the Seaside Bar bartender, was also very friendly and makes great conversation. He introduced me to my new favorite drink, the Caipirinha, a Brazilian drink that tastes like limeade. The wedding coordinator, Pati, made sure our wedding day was perfect. We emailed back and forth for months, she responded to every question and request and was patient when we changed our mind. The wedding she put together for us exceeded our expectations and well never forget it :) The resort itself is in transition and a portion of it was being renovated. The renovation was taking place on the far south side of the resort and didnt bother us any. The food was good but not authentic Mexican cuisine. You have to go far into town for authentic Mexican food. The beach is good for snorkeling and scuba diving, not good for swimming because its rocky (wear water shoes). The pools are large and clean. Downtown Cozumel is typical of any beach town with shopping, restaurants and bars. Its much more relaxed than Cancun. I would recommend renting scooters and driving the perimeter of the island. The have a road just for bikes and scooters that goes around most of the island. The virgin beaches are beautiful! Overall, we had a wonderful time. It was tough coming back to real life.
"Scuba Dive Heaven"
Visit was Oct 18-26, 2013. Ultra Luxury Cozumel Resort has multiple restaurants, pools, health facilities. The employees are very friendly and always helpful. Facilities are immaculate, location is ideal for scuba dive trips, rooms are spacious with great views. The Market Place buffet has a wide variety of choices and waiters Miguel and Ismael always have a smile and take care of you.
"Wedding and vacation"
The staff was great, they were on top of everything. The wedding coordinator far exceeded our expectations. The accommodations were more than expected. The only thing I recommend is that they have more authentic Mexican food, their menus were too Americanized. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Very happy with the place.
"Relaxing place in Cozumel"
I was here in mid-October for a 7-night stay. We had a very nice, spacious room overlooking the ocean, even though we thought this was supposed to be a tropical view, so that was a nice surprise. We had a little bit of difficulty getting our Frigobar filled initially so perhaps they weren't expecting us there, but eventually it was filled. The room has an easy-to-use safe and a spacious bathroom. We usually would have to call for washcloths, but this was not a big deal and they were very prompt to bring them to us. Every evening or morning you receive a Sundial newsletter with events for the next day, which restaurants are open, what discounts are offered, what the entertainment will be, etc. ENTERTAINMENT We didn't have shows everyday probably because this is still the low season, but there was a Mexican show, an Idol show (that one was hilarious!), and a fire show. All were very good. They have people onsite to book tours for you, but since we had previously booked our tours online, we did not take advantage of this. GIFT SHOP There is a gift shop onsite which is fairly small, but has a lot of items that you might need. I thought it was a little strange that they did not have postcards for Cozumel, but instead for other locations close by. It is worth taking a look just to browse if nothing else. Usually a discount is offered on something at the gift shop in the Sundial newsletter. SPA Everyday there is a different discount for the spa offered in the Sundial, and if you are a really patient person you can go to the Vacation Club presentation and get some spa coupons. I did not do this but my travel companions did. Luckily for me, the day before I left, they offered a discount for the massage, so I went for it. It was wonderful, and the spa was very nice. GYM I visited the gym twice during my stay. They have three treadmills, two elliptical machines, one stationary bike, other resistance equipment, free weights, and two stability balls. Also they have a water machine in there that dispenses cold and hot water. It is nice and cool in there also. I wish I could have used the gym more but I was busy. DAILY ACTIVITY PROGRAM I did not use this, because I had tours everyday, but they have snorkeling, bungee, volleyball, basketball, water polo, ping pong, kayaking, etc. They also usually have a movie playing at 7:00pm. FOOD Food here got a bit repetitive, probably because this was the low season. Market Caf is buffet-style and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For lunch, the only other option is the Sea Side Grill which offers cheeseburgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, nachos, and fries. For dinner, they would alternate between having Portofino (Italian) as the other option and El Patio (Mexican). Da Mario's (the pizza place), was not open during my stay. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. Antonio was my favorite and waited on us the most. Also, one of my traveling companions eats vegan only, and they were able to accommodate her diet during our stay. PHOTOS Adventure Photos is available if you want professional photos during your vacation. I have done this for 2 out of 3 of my AM Resort stays, and have really liked the photos afterwards. Alan and Cynthia did a great job with our group. The photos are $15 per photo, but well worth it if you want some nice photos of your trip. BEACH Pretty nice beach, the water is very clear. The water seemed more colorful near San Miguel, which surprised me, but this is a nice beach with sand. If you walk towards the Secrets property, it seems less sandy and harder to walk on in bare feet. All in all, this is a great resort to stay at in Cozumel, especially if you are doing things in the southern hotel zone area, since taking taxis everywhere gets expensive. I think it is going through some renovations and growing pains since it recently changed ownership, but it was really nice considering this is the budget category of AM Resorts and we got a great deal on our stay. The staff is very nice and friendly.
