"Best Vacation Spot In The Carribbean"
We've stayed here 4 times over the last 10 years and this island is my favorite place in the caribbean region. The full kitchen is nice and there is a grocery store right across the street. The resort is fabulous with great beaches, pools and snorkeling right from the beach! You can also rent sail boats, jet skis, kayaks, etc right on the property.
Be active or just relax in a hammock all day or lounge poolside and drink at the pool bars!!
The activity director is great and there are always things going on at the resort. Volleyball is a popular activity with the guess most weeks. This resort is great for couples and families and we always see multi generational groups here. Everyone is extremely friendly and nice.
There are some good restaurants close by and if you want the excitement and nightlife, 7 mile beach and Georgetown are both a short drive away, so it really is the best of both worlds.
"Absolutely Wonderful"
Just returned yesterday, October 27th, and didn't want to leave. We had a pool side room and it was perfect! Although we were dealing with high winds and rough waters, we still enjoyed ourselves. The pools are wonderful, especially the infinity pool at the Grands, the seashore is cleaned from the seaweed every morning, and is the perfect place to rest, relax and enjoy the sights. The wait staff at the bars and restaurants are exceptional! We felt like part of the family everyday, and can't wait to back next year to visit!! Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing vacation!
"Best Vacation we have ever had!"
I had a great experience with Morritt's Tortuga. The check in was easy and quick. They were very nice. Our room was clean, and the maid came every day. She did our dishes and left us lots of towels, etc. We always left a little "tip" for her, so maybe that was why they treated us so good. We loved loved loved the bartender at MiMi's, I think his name was Paul. He went out of his way to remember our names and even got us change for laundry when we needed it. We snorkeled every single day right out under the dock, and at the beach. The grounds were always clean and tidy. The water was breathtaking. Met lots of folks from the U.S. and several from other countries. Very nice pools. Our condo was a ground floor unit with a grill and shower right outside our door. The pool was right in our face. So, it was nice. Not a lot of traffic, no buses or cruise ships, definitely the quiet side of the island. Just a 10 second walk to the beach. Took a jet ski trip with Fatfish tours and it was hands down the best time we have ever had on any trip. Lee was our guide and he was fantastic. We were supposed to be gone from 1:15 until 4pm or so, and we didn't get back to our condo until 7:30!! What a great experience. At at Seymours Jerk Center and it was GREAT! Awesome jerk chicken and for 3 of us it was about $20 US. I definitely would recommend the resort, and I definitely would recommend Fatfish Tours. We liked it so much, we bought a timeshare and are looking forward to our 2 weeks every year there! Had a not so great experience with a local car rental place, but it didn't ruin our time.
"Just returned from our 16th visit to this resort"
We have been going to Morritts since 1991. We love the quiet of the East End as well as the beautiful sunrises. Since we always stay in the Grand, we have beach access and the units are large, well equipped and brightly decorated. I prefer to cook all of our meals as my family dives both morning and afternoons. the grocery across the street is very convenient and carries nearly everything you will need. there is a fitness center with enough equipment to get the job done and there are several pools on the property if you prefer to swim other than the ocean. Lots of water sports with a Red Sail shop on site including 2 dive boats with a friendly and expert staff manning them. It can get a bit windy on the East End but only once in all these years has it been bothersome. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for peace and quiet and a beautiful beach.
"Christmas in Cayman"
My family spent Christmas in Grand Cayman and had a fantastic time. We've been here numerous time before but never at Christmas. Weather was great (a little breezy), 75-85 and sunny. Caymanian people and kids provided a Christmas caravan float with lights and carols that toured around the island. It was most appreciated by all the tourists. This is an incredibly friendly place at Christmas where the spirit of Christmas is shared by all the residents. Cannot wait to come back.
"Unmatched Beauty"
There are many beautiful places around the world and I have found one of them in the Grand Caymans. Morritt's Tortuga Club on the East end of the island is nothing short of blissful. If you are looking for a resort atmosphere with an "I'm at home" feeling this is your place. If you're looking for a destination that is off the beaten path yet close enough to everything...this is your place. If you like to wake up in the morning to gentle breezes, sunshine and peace and quiet...this is your place. If you want the hustle and bustle of a resort bundled into a tourist district...this is NOT your resort.
Everything from the time we checked in until our VERY sad departure was outstanding. The people are so friendly, down to earth and genuine you can't help but feel at home. The amenities are bountiful and spread out so if you want to partake in group activities they are there and if not you are not bothered by them. An absolute perfect balance of fun and relaxation!
"Nice Resort!"
The staff at Morritt's was very helpful and friendly. Our room was very nice and updated and the amenities were great. The resort has multiple pools and workout facilities. The dock bar is also a great place to hang out and they have different fun events every night. Definitely a good place to stay.
"Great vacation"
We had a great time at Morritts. The beach is beautiful. The east side of the island is quiet, yet we found plenty to keep busy. We stayed there a week and drove to the west side only twice. Snorkeling right off the dock was great we saw so much. The staff were courteous and helpful. The food was delicious. The rooms were clean. The pools and grounds were clean and well maintained. I left value blank because the room was gifted to us. Prices for excursions and food seemed in-line with other places on the island. And the east side is definitely more remote, but we liked that. We found there was plenty to do and it was quieter than the west side. The room was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. We had a wonderful time and definitely recommend Morritts!
"Really Good Resort, Great Island"
First time for us on the Cayman Islands and the resort, but we really enjoyed ourselves. While not perfect, the good certainly outweighed the bad.
The Pools: the pools are really nice. There are 3 at this resort. Two of them have swim up bars (with one of them being an infinity pool) and the water is a cool, but not cold temperature. Everything around them seemed to be in pristine condition.
The People: Really good experience with everyone at Morritt's. If you like having a bunch of activities going on, they have a coordinator, Kenroy, who does an unbelievable job and is one of the most likable people you'll meet. If that's not your thing, they provide you with the schedule so you can easily avoid it. A few of the bartenders really stand out, too. Andy, who's mentioned in a lot of the reviews, is sincerely nice and went out of his way to introduce himself on our first trip down to the pool bar he was working. Fabio, has more energy than most, and is a natural entertainer.
The Location: While some people might consider this a con, we loved the fact that Morritt's was away from the "city" of Georgetown. Highly recommend renting a car. We were able to get one for less than $200, and I was real nervous about driving on the left hand side, but this is a great place to learn as there isn't much traffic at all. Real simple once you get the hang of it. The resort beach is really nice, the water is clear (great snorkeling right off the dock) and warm, and there is very minimal traffic. One other perk about the location is there is a grocery store, liquor store, and Italian restaurant just a short walk down from Morritt's.
The Island: This has been one of my favorite islands to visit. I can't emphasize how friendly everyone was that we met. I have been to some places where tourists aren't exactly welcome, but this isn't one of them. Felt incredibly safe the entire time we were there. Beautiful drive (~1 hour to get from one end to the other) and you can see everything.
Overall, we had a great time. Visit the Cayman Islands, and I would certainly stay at Morritt's again in the future.
"Owner's Pride"
I just returned from my fifth visit to my timeshare- My friends and I were in the Seaside Building on 4th Floor. The view from sunrise until late at night is fantastic. We had a delicious dinner at David's. Everyone at this resort is so accommodating and cheerful. It is very well managed and the upkeep is excellent.
"Nice quiet Scenic Getaway"
Great place to see if you don't need the central city night life. Nice clean rooms; good pools; and wonderful location right on the East End beach. Good restaurants along the north coast of the island within easy distance.
"Fantastic Time on Grand Cayman Island"
Cannot say enough good things about Morritts Tortuga Club & Resort. Have been a regular since 2008 and will continue to come "Home" every year. The staff are friendly, accomodating and will make your visit the best you have ever had. Their was plenty of activities to keep you busy or a chair for you to relax in. Red Sail Sports have great sunset cruises, wave runners or wind surfing if that is your thing. Stingray City is a must see, this was the highlight of my trip in 2013. Boat ride was great and the boat staff held the stingrays for us to pet and hold if we wanted. Capt Herman will take you out for a deep sea fishing expedition if you so desire. Rum Point further East is great for a lazy day in the white sandy beach and read a book for nap in a hammock. Food was excellent too!
Their are other attractions on the island, Hell, Turtle & Butterfly Farm and shopping in Georgetown. The cuisine is excellent and will tease your palate. Tukka is an excellent East End eatery, picked us up at the resort and had great a great dinner and drinks.
If you love the sun, water and a lazy vacation is what you crave this place is for you.
"Quiet, casual and very nice!"
My wife and I spent a leisurely week at Morritts Tortuga resort this last week. The weather was mostly good 87 degrees and the experience was very relaxing. No, we didnt jump head-first into the Pirates celebration back in Georgetown but decided to relax on the East End. There is not a lot of night life on the East End. Oh there is karaoke night or special BBQ feast but nothing too crazy. But, thats how we liked it and were pleased.
The resort itself is well kept, the grounds are nicely cared for. Construction of the new building provides quite a racket a times. The personnel at Morritts are as nice as can be. Every request was met with a smile and a can do attitude. From past experience, that can make or break a resort of this type. Thank you to Denise, Tiffany, and Jesus!
The units (we were in 2 different ones) were very nice and clean. Air conditioning worked well (thank goodness), microwave, full-sized refrigerator are included as well as a TV and DVD player. TV stations there are goofy some in English, some in Spanish, some mixture. Stations vary from NYC to Puerto Rico.
You have a choice of 3 different pools, 2 of which have swim up bars and music playing. But the 3rd, the Park Pool is a quiet, smaller pool that is nice for reading and sunbathing.
We were a frequent visitor at Mimis Dock. They serve both lunch and dinner fare as well as various drinks (* Happy Hour is 4 to 6*). The food is good and so are the drinks. You can charge it to your room and, since the scenery is spectacular, its all part of the vacation experience.
You will be approached by your concierge for a welcome, an opportunity for some tours and water activities as well as some timeshare discussions. They are not high pressure like some other resorts and once I said no, they moved on.
I asked my wife whether we should return here to Morritts for another vacation week and she said no. She said we should return for 2 weeks next time. You cant get a better endorsement than that!
"Amazing!"
We had a wonderful time here. I was happy to be away from the hustle and bustle of the 7 mile beach area. Every single person we met, other guests and staff too, we're friendly and extremely helpful. The concierge that we dealt with was Richard and he was a blessing in disguise. He helped us figure out what we wanted to do and went above and beyond to make it happen.
Overall, this is definitely a place I would return to. Had a great vacation and can't wait to go back!!!
"Nice resort but far from most things"
My wife and I came here with a friend who owns the time share here. It is a little out of the way, so if your looking for something with all the sights around you this is not the resort for you. The staff is very friendly. If you stay here you have to talk to the bartender, Andy at the swim up bar. We made friends with him from the first time we had talked with him. He makes the resort what it is, if you want to taste local food ask Andy where to go. He made this resort what it is for us. He told us the local spots to go and he is a guy you can sit and chat with. He isn't all about serving you the resort he really wants people to get the local experience of the island. Also if you are a cat lover, be warned they have a cat cafe where they take care of the local cats and are making sure they are well taken care of. My wife and I "adopted" one of the kittens and the staff at the dive shop was very friendly to assist with the exportation of the kitten. It is a bit of an older crowd but they do have activities for you get people to take in. My advice is ask Andy what is good to do and where to go, he will not steer you wrong.
"Loved It"
I visited the Morritts Resort for a total of 3 nights just to try it out and it actually exceeded my expectation. Started out with a smooth check in where i was greeted by the lovely Veronica, what a pleasant face to meet on arrival, she was very nice and helpful. I did not leave my room much to enjoy all facilities but thats not what i went for, I did go out and enjoy the food, pools and jacuzzi. They were never crowded and always a great temperture. must admit the first jacuzzi. Morritts is for the laid back type, a place where you can get a decent meal relax out on your balcony and just enjoy the breeze nobody to bother you, housekeeping is very smooth quick and to the point if there was any special request. I just loved how i slept soooo peacefully there was never a sleepless night it was always so comfy. We had a view of the "Preimer Pool" it was actually very beautiful. I know most people want a beachfront/oceanfront but honestly a pool view is enough for me! Anyway to end this off, i do love this place and i will be returning very soooon ! :)
"Great trip!"
Just returned yesterday from a week long stay at Morritts. We were lucky and our rooms were located in the Grand Resort (room 6403) but can see how your experience could be very different if you are in another part of the resort. We had a two bedroom and everything looked brand new. View from the balcony was gorgeous - I missed waking up to it today. I set the thermostat to 78 after out first night (originally set at 73)...didn't see it to begin with as it was located behind the television in the living room. We did the buffet on Monday - way too crowded!! The food was good but not worth the wait...over 30 minutes waiting in line to get your plate. Dinner at Davids was really good though and worth the money. Overall a really good trip!
"Great place for low-key vacationers"
We stayed in May/June of 2013 and had a great time. We loved being close to the ocean and also having the option of 3 different pools, two of which had hot tubs. The food at David's and Mimi's (on the property) was great as well and the staff were all very accomodating. It was nice to have a little grocery store (easily within walking distance) on the nights when we wanted to stay in and cook for ourselves. We didn't rent a car during our stay and we loved that the hotel offered transportation for a day trip to Georgetown. Although we enjoyed GT, it also confirmed that we were happier staying on the quiet end of the island. We can't wait to go back again!
"they showed us the best time ever"
This place is amazing. I went there with my boyfriend in late September this year. We spent a week there and loved every minute. We rented a car to explore the island and they gave us great info on where to go etc. My boyfriend has no vision and they were exceptional in catering to our needs yet not making us feel disabled. great ppl, great service. Love you captain herman and our house keeper Mariam. you guys were the best. What a great time.
"Our timeshare/second home. Can't beat the location!"
We have been going to Morritts for over ten years when we first found it. We love the quiet location, amenities (great pools and bars, evening entertainment) and welcoming attitude. Now have two units as timeshares at the Grand. The snorkeling is terrific right off the beach and one of the main draws for us. With a convenience store now across the street you don't need to even leave the area. Always clean and well maintained.
